St. Joseph Hospital is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join a highly skilled Interventional Cardiology team at the St. Joseph Hospital campus in Orange, California. This role is focused on inpatient care and provides the opportunity to work collaboratively with interventional cardiologists in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
The Nurse Practitioner will function as an advanced practice provider delivering comprehensive cardiovascular care across the continuum, with a strong emphasis on interventional and procedural cardiology.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced inpatient cardiovascular care for patients undergoing interventional cardiology and electrophysiology procedures
- Manages the care of the patient, collaborating with the physician when necessary, according to SJO approved standardized procedures
- Assess the status of the patient and intervenes with appropriate orders and interventions. Monitors patient progress to ensure clinical and financial outcomes.
- Orders and evaluates appropriate diagnostic studies.
- Orders appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Assists in tracking and trending outcome performance data on patient populations. Assist in the maintenance of databases specific to assigned patient populations. Participates in cost quality analysis making recommendations. Develops and implements action plan for practice changes to enhance patient outcomes
- Perform and maintain competencies in procedures as indicated, including MCS management and sheath removals
- Respond to emergencies, including groin complications, post op care emergencies, and inpatient consults
- Assist with pre- and post-operative care, including patient assessment, monitoring, and follow-up
- Conduct independent patient rounding after intake and assist with stress testing
- Collaborate closely with interventional cardiologists and the multidisciplinary care team to manage complex cardiac patients
- Serve as a clinical expert in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and acute cardiac care
- Document care accurately and in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Full-time position
- 4,10-hour shifts per week
- No weekends
- Inpatient-only role
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Current Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner licensure (NP only)
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in acute and emergent settings
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to function effectively within both large interdisciplinary teams and smaller focused care groups
- Experience or demonstrated competence in interventional cardiology or acute cardiac care preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation is between $163,129 and $209,736 per year
- Salary range is provided in accordance with state law and may vary based on experience and other qualifying factors
- Can work independently, make critical decisions in acute setting and work well within a larger team and small groups
