Organization

Dr. D'Agostino is a partner at Lowcountry Orthopaedics (LCO).

LCO will be your employer, but you will be working exclusively for Dr. D'Agostino.

LCO is an orthopedic practice, specializing in orthopedic procedures such as shoulders, hips, knees, etc. Dr. D'Agostino, Dr. Stovall and Dr. Battista are the spine surgeons within LCO.

Spine-Focused Neurosurgery

Dr. D'Agostino is a neurosurgeon who specializes in spinal surgery.

We do not treat or manage cranial pathology. We deploy multiple minimally invasive spinal techniques, including robot surgery, to maximize the surgical benefits for our patients.

Locations

Dr. D'Agostino has a clinic in Ladson, SC.

We operate at Summerville Medical Center and the Center for Advanced Surgery (ASC).

Schedule

Monday – Surgery at Summerville Medical Center.

Tuesday – Clinic at the Ladson office.

Wednesday – Surgery at Summerville Medical Center.

Thursday – Clinic at the Ladson office.

Friday – Surgery at the Center for Advanced Surgery (Ladson).

Call Responsibilities

We are not on call for unassigned patients in the ER.

We do not take trauma call.

We are on call for the practice in a rotation that is approximately 1 in 12 weekends. While on call for the practice, we will have to round on existing practice patients that happen to be in the hospital. This is usually less than 5 patients in total.

Holidays

We have an established holiday call schedule that is shared between the 13 physicians and their respective APPs. This schedule is made several years in advance. If we are on call for the practice than we are expected to be available should there be a need. We usually cover one holiday a year.

Requirements

PA-NP Responsibilities

You will be with Dr. D'Agostino throughout the work week.

On OR days, MWF, you will be assisting Dr. D'Agostino in the OR.

• This includes making sure that the H&P, consents and imaging are available and up to date. This will also include putting in post op orders. We will make rounds on any patients that are in the hospital on these days.
• Our OR days start at 7:30am. On Monday and Wednesday, we are usually done by 5pm, although some days will end earlier and some will go longer. Our OR day on Friday is usually done by 3pm, sometimes earlier but not often later.
• On clinic days, Tuesday and Thursday, you will be in clinic with Dr. D'Agostino.
• Clinic starts at 9am and the last patient is scheduled no later than 4:30pm. Prior to clinic you will need to make rounds at Summerville Medical Center.
• You will need to discharge whichever patients may need it.
• You will have your own clinic at the Ladson office. This will include new patients, follow up patients and post-op patients. You should expect to see about 20-25 patients on average.

Other Details

Athena is the EMR system that we use in clinic.

Meditech is the EMR system used at Summerville Medical Center.

There is no EMR system at the Center for Advanced Surgery (ASC).

Salary and Benefits

Salary will be determined by experience.

Who are we looking for?

First and foremost, we are looking for a highly motivated person who can take instructions and quickly grow to become self-sufficient.

As we spend a lot of time in the Ladson/North Charleston area, it would be preferable if the candidate lived in or around this area.

A candidate should have worked as an APP in a surgical practice. They should be familiar with the operating room and concepts of sterility.

Suturing skills would be recommended, but this can also be taught if necessary.
