Description
Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, P.C. is looking to hire full-time day (7 am - 7 pm) and night shift (7p - 7a) Acute Care Advanced Practice Providers as part of their ICU team at St. Thomas Midtown.
The CVA APP serves as a clinical expert and consultant within a 14-bed SICU. The managed SICU serves the full spectrum of surgical services lines including thoracic, plastics, heme/oncology, gyn, vascular and neurosurgery.
Based on established protocols/guidelines, the APP will function with a high degree of independence and in collaboration with supervising physicians in the management of the ICU population. The APP should be capable of learning a variety of procedures including intubations, central lines, chest tubes, etc. working in cooperation with the physician.

Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient medical needs.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
- Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
- Assists with the provision of pre- and post-surgical care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions and makes appropriate adjustments interventions to try to maintain patient homeostasis.
- Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. transferring to higher level of care and discharging patients occasionally.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
Desired Skills:
- Flexibility and eagerness to learn
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure (or in the process of obtaining)
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification in acute care, critical care
- Strong computer skills
- Eligible for hospital privileges
